To get a handle on Latin, you have to study the normal language things like verb conjugations, including those irregular verbs and verb endings. You need to pay attention to noun cases as well, and learn the basic question words and the short words that help you connect your thoughts. And, as you discover more Latin, you come to realize that its contributions to English are evident in words you use every day, so, even though there are no native Latin speakers anymore, the language lives on.

Actual Latin speakers — or more truthfully writers — used Roman numerals instead of the Arabic system English speakers use today. This book didn't provide the support required to study and learn Latin. It makes a fantastic and easy to follow reference book, but without follow up exercises or practical application that one can use to improve their Latin, it doesn't do much to help you actually gain even basic fluency. I'll be using this book alongside my Wheelocks Latin and my Oxford Latin course books. As they provide the exercises, this book helped me gain a glimpse of the broader grammatical aspects quicker. However, since the Church has a long history of expressing herself on very important matters in this language, as well as continuing a regimen of prayer life in the Liturgy of the Hours in this language, it is fitting that the Church retain and even promote Latin, as well as the other seven liturgical languages, even in this age of moving toward the vernacular.
Several writing conventions will be used in this book that do not agree with the current writing conventions used for Classical Latin. Ecclesiastical Latin does not use Macrons, but does however use the letter 'j' where appropriate. V and U are always differentiated. Gta iv police mods.
